Winston Churchill was a colossus on the world stage and one of the greatest wartime leaders in modern times. A soldier in Cuba, on the Afghan border, the Sudan, and in the Boer War in South Africa; a politician in World War I; a war leader in World War II; winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature and successful artist.  It is no wonder that his life has inspired many writers to document and analyse his life. Many great actors have also played Churchill in movies and TV over the years including Gary Oldman (Academy Award, BAFTA and Screen Actors Guild winner) in Darkest Hour; Albert Finney (Golden Globe, BAFTA and Emmy winner) in The Gathering Storm and John Lithgow (Emmy, Critics' Choice and Screen Actors Guild winner) in the The Crown for Netflix.
